| 1. What is more difficult for you, looking into someones eyes when you are telling someone how you feel, or looking into someones eyes when they are telling you how they feel? | |
| 2. Think of the last time you were REALLY angry. WHY were you angry? Do you still feel the same way? | |
| 3. You are on a flight from Honolulu to Chicago non-stop. There is a fire in the back of the plane. You have enough time to make ONE phone call. Who do you call? What do you tell them? | |
| 4. You are at the doctor’s office and he has just informed you that you have approximately one month to live. Do you tell anyone/everyone you are going to die? What do you do with your remaining days? Would you be afraid? | |
| 5. You can have one of the following two things. Which do you choose? Why? Love and Trust. | |
| 6. You are walking down the street on your way to work. There is a dog drowning in the canal on the side of the street. Your boss has told you if you are late even once more, you are fired. Do you take the time to save the dogs life? Why or Why not? | |
| 7. Would you rather be hurt by the one you trust the most or the one you love the most? | |
| 8. Your best friend confesses that he/she has feelings for you more than just friendship. He/she is falling in love with you. What do you (or did you) do/say? | |
| 9. Think of the last person who you know that died. You have the chance to give them 1 hour of life back, but you have to give up one year of yours. Do you do it? Why or Why not? | |
| 10. Are you the kind of friend that you would want to have as a friend? | |
| 11. Does love = sex? | |
| 12.Your boss tells your coworker that they have to let them go because of work shortage, and they are the newest employee. You have been there much longer. Your coworker has a family to support and no other means of income. Do you go to your boss and offer to leave the company? Why or Why not? | |
| 13.When was the last time you told someone HONESTLY how you felt regardless of how difficult it was for you to say? Who was it? What did you have to tell the person? | |
| 14. What would be (or what was) harder for you to tell a member of the opposite sex, you love them or that you do not love them back? | |
| 15. What do you think would be the hardest thing for you to give up? Why would it be hard to lose? | |
| 16. Excluding romantic love, when was the last time you told someone you loved them. Who were they to you? | |
| 17. If there was one moment and one time in the last month what would you change and why? | |
| 18.Imagine it is a dark night, you are alone, it is raining outside, you hear someone walking around outside your window. WHO do you wish was there with you? | |
| 19. Would you give a homeless person CPR if they were dying? Why or Why not? | |
| 21.You are holding onto your grandmother’s hand and the hand of a newborn that you do not know as they hang over the edge of a cliff. You have to let one go to save the other. Who do you let fall to their death? What was your rationale for making the decision? | |
| 22. Are you old fashioned? | |
| 23. When was the last time you were nice to someone and did NOT expect anything in return for it? | |
| 24.Which would you choose, true love with a guarantee of a broken heart, or never loved at all? Why? | |
| 25.If you could do anything or wish anything, what would it be? |
Ramblings of an Undirected Mind
The truth is, though, that it’s an incredibly simple and casual thing. I mean, I ask “honey, do you want to go for a walk?” too; I don’t just grab him by the arm and start dragging him down the street. It’s natural to ask someone before involving them in an activity.
Cliff Pervocracy, “Asking.”
This whole article on consent and stuff, just… *fangasm*
(via fuckyeahsexpositivity)
I am also in no way obligated to say yes to anything. And if I said ‘No I don’t really want to go for a walk’ you could go for a walk yourself or maybe I would want to go for a walk later or maybe we could just do something else. And that would be fine. And unless I volunteered the reasoning behind it, then you don’t need to know why or you ask once I say I don’t want to talk about it you let it go. It’s literally one of the EASIEST things.
Claiming otherwise is a trademark of rape culture. Pushing for a reason when the other person is not comfortable giving one, has none in particular, or has said they don’t want to share is a trademark of rape culture. Feeling you are entitled to either the action itself or a reason behind a no is a trademark of rape culture.

Though no one would ever think of using the term honor violence (we reserve that descriptor for brown people who live somewhere else, motivated by religious something-or-other or tribal something-or-other), one-third of women murdered every year in the United States are killed by their intimate partners. In 2005 that amounted to 1,181 women, or three women every day. To put that in perspective, the UN estimates there are 5,000 honor killings every year in the entire world. 5,000 in a world of 6 billion versus nearly 1,200 in a single country of 300 million. In other words, a woman in America runs a greater risk of being killed by her husband or boyfriend than a woman in Pakistan.

I’m going to go ahead and guess that more men are killed by their wives or girlfriends in the United States than in Pakistan, considering women commit quite a few domestic murders in the united states each year.

The point is that we think of the Middle East as a terrible place for women with oppressive laws and honor killings, when the truth is that technically it’s more dangerous to be a woman here.

Men who want to flirt with women have to realize: Women live in a state of continual vigilance about sexual safety. It’s like having a mild case of hay fever that never goes away. It’s not debilitating. You’re not weak. You’re not afraid. You just suck it up and get on with your life. It’s nothing that’s going to stop you from making discoveries, or climbing mountains, or falling in love. Sometimes you can almost forget about it. It doesn’t mean it’s not there, subtly sucking your energy. You learn to avoid situations that make it worse and seek out conditions that make it better.
If a female stranger is wary around you, it is not because she suspects you are a rapist, or that all men are rapists. It’s because a general level of circumspection is what vigilance requires. Don’t take it personally.
If this frustrates you, try to remember that women are blamed for lapsed vigilance. If a woman does get raped, everyone rushes to see where she let her guard down. Was she drinking? Was she alone? Was she wearing a short skirt? Did she go to a strange man’s room for coffee at 4am?
A woman must be seen to be vigilant as well as be vigilant. If she is deemed insufficiently vigilant, she will be at least partly blamed for any sexual violence that befalls her. If she’s regarded as downright reckless, that “evidence” can be used to completely exonerate her rapist. If it comes down to a he said/she said dispute over whether sex was consensual, as so many rape cases do, the dispute becomes a referendum on whether the woman seems like the sort of reckless person who would have sex with a stranger.
If a woman does go back to a strange man’s hotel room at 4am, even if she only wants a coffee and conversation, she’s more or less given him the power to rape her. No jury is going to believe she went up there for anything but sex. So, don’t be surprised if a stranger reacts badly to that suggestion.
